Organic Agriculture Conference to be Held for San Diego Region

A free, two-day Organic Agriculture Conference for the San Diego region will be held September 25 – 26. The first day consists of organic farm tours while the second day will include informational sessions. 

Organic farm tours will take place on September 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will depart from the San Marcos Community Center located at 3 Civic Center Drive, San Marcos, CA. Transportation and lunch will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks, sun protection and water. Online registration for the tours is now available.

Day two will take place at the San Marcos Community Center on September 26 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. A light breakfast, coffee and lunch will be provided.  Registration for day two is available online. The agenda is as follows:

  • Avocado Irrigation Efficiency and Citrus IPM Research Updates
  • Weed Ecology and Approaches to Organic Weed Management
  • Organic Buyer Panel and Marketing Strategies
  • Regional Support Services and Grants
  • Meet one-on-one with organic technical assistance providers
  • Regional Policy Update

The registration deadline for both days is September 18.

The event is hosted by the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, Natural Resources Conservation Service, San Diego County Department of Agriculture, Weights & Measures, Southern California Soil and Water Hub, UC Cooperative Extension, UC ANR Climate Smart Agriculture Program and UC Organic Agriculture Institute.
