The U.S. Department of Agriculture has opened applications for Stage 2 of the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program for producers who suffered crop, tree, bush or vine losses due to natural disasters that took place in 2023-24. To provide growers with more information about Stage 2 of the SDRP, the USDA California Farm Service Agency is hosting a one-hour webinar.

Ag Pass cards are designed to provide key agricultural personnel with a means of confirming that their services are essential to protecting or caring for agricultural assets in the event of a natural disaster. To obtain an Ag Pass card, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and complete a four-hour in-person training session.

The California Avocado Society is hosting a “Exploring Avocado Growing in the Central Valley” seminar on March 12 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Lindcove Research and Extension Center in Exeter, CA.

The California Small Farm Conference will take place February 22 – 27 with more than 50 online workshops and a selection of in-person events around the state. Admission for the event is on a sliding scale — with registrants choosing the amount they are able to pay upon registration.

COS Training Resource Center is offering Good Agricultural Practices Fieldworker — Train the Trainer sessions in the San Luis Obispo region. These sessions are designed to help employees consistently improve food safety and help them become effective trainers of other fieldworkers.

“English for Agriculture” is an English language program for farmworkers that provides agriculture operations with onsite or virtual English training sessions specifically designed for agriculture settings. Students learn English skills related to farm operations, employee safety, hygiene and food safety, team leadership and communication.

The 8th Ventura County Spray Safe Event will be held on March 5 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds from 7:30 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. The event will begin with a trade show exhibition and include morning speakers, breakout sessions and lunch.
