As reported in the last GreenSheet, California weekly harvest rates continue to fall short of projections. At the current rate of harvest, CAC anticipates the final crop size to come in closer to 240-245 million pounds. CAC has continued discussions with industry members regarding next year’s crop size and while we currently still anticipate a 2024 crop size in the low-to-mid 200 million pounds, there are some industry members who are hopefully we’ll be closer to the mid-200s, as fruit that set late is now starting to become more visible in the trees. CAC will conduct another survey of handlers in September before the CAC Board finalizes 2023-24 budgets and business plans at the October meeting.
