Commission Hosts EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, Advocates for TRQ

Late on February 26, the California Avocado Commission was asked to host Lee Zeldin, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator, in a San Diego County avocado grove. CAC seized the opportunity and is grateful to Robert Jackson, CAC District 1 Board member for opening up his grove on February 27. Mr. Jackson spent significant time with Administrator Zeldin and did an excellent job advocating for CAC’s Tariff Rate Quota request under the USMCA Joint Review. Although EPA doesn’t have a direct role in trade, as a member of the President’s Cabinet our goal is for Administrator Zeldin to communicate with the United States Trade Ambassador Jamieson Greer and Congress member Darrell Issa the need for immediate action. Here is news coverage of today’s visit

The Commission will continue to advocate with the Trump Administration the need for a TRQ and provide updates as new information becomes available.
