SoCal Retail Promotions Drive 23% Lift in Sales

Throughout June, two of Southern California’s largest retailers celebrated California Avocado Month with promotions that ultimately drove retail sales 23% higher than the previous month. The promotions were composed of multiple touchpoints in stores that piqued the interest of consumers and coupled with coupons that enticed purchases when avocado retail pricing is above average.

Ralphs locations showcased an average of five to six avocado displays in their stores, showcasing California Avocados branded bins to grab the attention of shoppers. The promotions were paired with a digital coupon offer of $1.00 off Kroger’s California branded bag of avocados.

Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions hosted a sales contest challenging the locations to design eye-catching displays with California Avocados branded display bins. Promotions focused on both bagged and bulk avocados and a digital coupon offered $.50 off each GEM avocado purchased. In-store video signage featured a :15 second California avocado commercial video showcasing the locally grown and sustainably farmed fruit.
