The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Regenerative Pilot Program provides financial assistance to producers for adopting conservative systems that improve soil health, water quality and long-term farm resilience. Funding for the program was recently increased from $700 million to $1 billion for fiscal year 2027.
The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service also is expanding the program by allowing the State Technical Advisory Committee to include conservation practices that reflect local resource concerns, production systems and producer needs.
To reduce the barrier to entry, the resource concern threshold will be reduced from 100% to 75% for the Conservation Stewardship Program. Producers will be able to bundle multiple regenerative practices into one application. The program will still maintain whole-farm planning and will provide improved tracking mechanisms and additional technical support to make the program easier to administer.
