The California Avocado Commission shared an op-ed published August 17 by Fox News, co-authored by Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) and chef and restaurateur Andrew Gruel, both partners of the California Avocado Commission who have been supporting CAC’s efforts to secure a seasonal tariff-rate quota on Mexican avocados.

The deadline to apply for the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program has been extended to September 30 and the USDA Farm Service Agency has simplified program requirements to make it easier to apply. SDRP provides payments to agricultural producers who suffered revenue, quality or production losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024.

The California Avocado Commission issued a second press release to draw attention to the reporting by a Mexican journalist (see below). CAC is actively pursuing every possible option to protect California avocado grower interests.
