The California Small Farm Conference will take place February 22 – 27 with more than 50 online workshops and a selection of in-person events around the state. Admission for the event is on a sliding scale — with registrants choosing the amount they are able to pay upon registration.
Sessions will cover the following topics:
- Soil health and crop production — compost, cover crops, nutrient diagnosis, organic weed management, no-till systems
- Water, drought and climate change — groundwater, dry farming, water-smart practices, fire ecology
- Farm business, finance and profitability — pricing, financing, leases, labor, recordkeeping
- Markets, sales and value chains
- Land access, labor and farm transitions
- Policy, advocacy and food systems change
- Equity, culture and community
- Organic certification and compliance
A full day of Spanish-language training is available and will cover organic farming, water management, cooperatives, disaster preparedness and market access.
