Spring Menu Promotions Build Interest in California Avocados

  • May 12, 2021

Restaurant chain promotions help establish spring and summer as California avocado season with fresh limited-time-offer California avocado menu items that entice diners to choose the special menu offerings when ordering meals away from home. This spring two Northern California/Bay area chains — Erik’s DeliCafe and Super Duper Burgers — are promoting fresh California avocados on their menus.

From April 1 – May 31, Erik’s DeliCafe units will leverage the halo effect of California avocados on the menu by showcasing the availability of fresh California avocado slices on their sandwiches and in their salads. The chain also will highlight fresh California avocados on their website and social media platforms.

Super Duper Burgers launched their seasonal limited-time-offer item — the Parma Burger with fresh California avocados — on April 15. The promotion will run through June 1. The chain will call out the California-style special menu item on its website and social channels and feature a California avocado-themed “local sourcing” story on its website.

By partnering with foodservice chain restaurants, the Commission provides additional exposure for California avocados and creates a sense of urgency among diners by noting the seasonality of the fruit and the LTO menu items. In turn, these promotions help encourage sales of the season’s crop and build awareness about the versatility of the fruit in a wide range of meal and snack options.
