Laurel Wilt – Ambrosia Beetle Virtual Seminar for Growers
On May 27, Dr. Romina Gazis will share insights from her research concerning the potential for inducing an immune response to the laurel wilt pathogen in avocado trees. This research is part of a project funded by the Florida Avocado Committee. In particular, Dr. Gazis will present on “’Vaccinating’ avocado trees: inoculating avocado trees with selected non-pathogenic fungi and denatured Raffaelea lauricola and their response to the virulent laurel wilt pathogen.”
The virtual webinar takes place May 27 from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (PST) and is open to the public. Dr. Jonathan Crane, Tropical Fruit Crop Specialist at the UF-IFAS Tropical Research and Education Center, will open the session and moderate the question and answer portion of the event.
