Fire Preparedness and Recovery Virtual Seminars Available

The Ventura County Fire Resource Conservation District is offering a series of free wildfire prevention virtual workshops. The series will discuss wildfire prevention and tips, how to prepare for potential wildfires and allow participants to ask questions of a variety of wildfire personnel and professionals.

Speakers and topics are as follows:

  • July 6, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. — “Ready, Set, Go! Program,” Captain Brian McGrath and Captain Robert Welsbie of the Ventura County Fire Department
  • September 7, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  — “Creating Defensible Space and Understanding the Home Ignition Zone,” Woody Bouska, Sure-Fire Training Inc.
  • November 2, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  — “Understanding Insurance and Wildfire,” Dave Erickson, Coastal States Insurance, Independent Agent
  • December 7, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  — “Community Efforts and Opportunities to Reduce Wildfire Risks Panel Discussion Among Fire and Community Experts,” Andrew Spyrka, Ventura County RCD; Elaine Himelfarb, Ventura Fire Safe Council; Panel of Ventura County Fire Department personnel
