Commission Partners with Produce Brands for #WhatsInYourFruitBowl Social Media Campaign
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), only 1 in 10 Americans eat enough fruits and vegetables. To motivate consumers to enjoy more produce and expand awareness of early-season California avocados, the California Avocado Commission partnered with USA Pears, the National Mango Board, Harry & David and Produce for Better Health on the #WhatsInYourFruitBowl social media initiative.
The campaign, which ran throughout March, encouraged consumers to assemble unique fruit bowls that would inspire their family to enjoy fresh fruit, and then share photos of their creations on social media. Instagram was used as the primary social media channel as this channel is designed to showcase eye-catching photography.
This is the third year the Commission has participated in this successful early-season social media promotion to build awareness of California avocados. The campaign included a sweepstakes and contest, and shared nutritional messaging about the benefits of fresh fruit.
