California Avocado Commission to Score a Number of Firsts with Consumer Advertising this Season

With California avocado volume continuing to build, the California Avocado Commission’s (CAC) consumer ad campaign is in high gear. This year the campaign will promote close-to-home California avocados with customized print and outdoor ads featuring illustrations specific to the California market they will appear in. In other regions, CAC’s ads will promote “A Taste of California” with recipes that emphasize the connection between California avocados and the Golden State.

This year’s consumer ad campaign will garner a number of firsts.  Consumers can enjoy a custom California mixtape on both Pandora and Spotify. CAC served as a sponsor of the Disney California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival and Chef’d meal delivery service will feature California avocados in June for California Avocado Month.

The consumer campaign will blend traditional media tactics — print, outdoor and in-store radio — with digital and audio advertising, online content and social media. The Commission’s “wild postings” offer engaging opportunities for California avocado fans to take selfies with the California-avocado themed outdoor art and share them on their social media channels. CAC will continue to partner with chefs, bloggers and dietitians to provide consumers with unique, trending California avocado recipes, as well as nutrition information. To round out the campaign, the Commission will participate in a series of targeted events and co-marketing programs, and celebrate summer with California Avocado Month and American Summer Holidays promotions.

Consumer ads will focus on close-to-home messaging in California.

Ad illustrations will feature landmarks and landscapes specific to the market they appear in.

Ad campaigns will be supplemented with recipes from content partners that showcase the unique flavors of the state.
