Applications Open for Organic Certification Funding Assistance
The Organic Certification Cost Share Program provides cost share assistance to producers and handlers who are applying for or maintaining organic certification under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program. Eligible applicants may receive reimbursement up to 50 percent of their certification expenses for the year, with a maximum of $500 per certification scope.
OCCSP is currently accepting applications for eligible certification expenses paid between October 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021. Applications are due November 1, 2021.
Eligible producers include any certified producers or handlers who have paid organic certification fees to a USDA-accredited certifying agent. Eligible expenses for the cost-share reimbursement include:
- Application fees
- Inspection costs
- Fees related to equivalency agreement/arrangement requirements
- Travel expenses for inspectors
- User fees
- Sales assessments
