CULTURAL TIPS: PRUNING-FOR-PRODUCTION SEMINARS
As part of the California Avocado Growers Seminar Series 2010/11, Dr. Jonathan Dixon, California Avocado Commission (CAC) research program director, recently delivered multiple "Pruning-for-Production" field workshops, discussing tips for effective tree pruning with hundreds of growers.
The first in the five-part Growers Seminar Series (a collaboration among CAC, the California Avocado Society and the University of California Cooperative Extension), the "Pruning-for-Production" workshops took place November 9-11, in San Luis Obispo, Santa Paula and Temecula, respectively. If you missed the seminar - or need a refresher - please find "Pruning-for-Production" handouts, educational materials and - soon-to-be-released - videos on the Grower website: http://www.californiaavocadogrowers.com/pruning-for-production-november/.
The next Grower Seminar, "PGR Strategies and Avocado Phenology," featuring Dr. Dixon and Dr. Carol Lovatt, University of California, Riverside, is scheduled for February 8-10, 2011.
