Pest Alert: Update on the Tea Shot Hole Borer

Dr Akif Eskalen, an extension plant pathologist, has teamed up with Dr Richard Stouthamer, an entomologist, both from UC Riverside, to conduct an extensive survey of the central Los Angeles area where the Tea Shot Hole Borer beetle is believed to be widespread. The survey will determine the extent of the infestation, what plants are being attacked and the kinds of fungi the beetle is carrying so the threat to commercial avocado groves can be accurately assessed.

For more information on Tea Shot Hole Borer please click the link below, visit http://eskalenlab.ucr.edu/handouts.html or contact Dr Akif Eskalen at (951) 827-3499.

CAC-GAP Incentive Rebate Program & Grower Education Seminars

CAC-GAP Incentive Rebate Program & Grower Education Seminars: The Commission’s goal is to get a sizeable percentage of the industry GAP certified by the end of 2012 and to ensure industry uniformity in GAP certification.  To help encourage California avocado growers to pursue GAP certification, the Commission approved a GAP Incentive Rebate (GIR).  The GIR will reimburse participating growers for actual audit costs, up to $300 per ranch audit, subject to the availability of funds.  Please take a few minutes to review the specific GIR guidelines along with the GIR form.
